I saw this fashion questionnaire on the wonderful Mermaiden's blog and knew straight away that I wanted to take part. I miss when blogs used to have fun little writing prompts, and we'd tag each other with various questions and awards (who remembers the Liebster?). It felt so much more personal as you'd feel like you got more of an insight into the person behind the blog. I also have personal reasons for wanting to do this, which is that I've felt a bit in a style rut these past few months, tending to stick to specific outfit combinations rather than experimenting, and I'm hoping that being pushed to think about things a little more might push me out of that comfort zone!

What are clothes to you? Self expression mostly. I'm a very quiet, anxious person so I like to let my clothing speak for me and let people know the kind of person I am and what I'm interested in.
What is your I-don't-know-what-to-wear outfit? I wear dresses 90% of the time as I find them easier to wear as there's less coordination to think about. So if I don't know what to wear, I'll just throw a loud dress on and let it speak for itself.
What are you sleeping in? My Winnie The Pooh pyjamas - I don't wear anything fancy to bed! I'd like to change that and sew myself something cute, but it's hard to feel motivated when it's just to sleep in.
What is your favorite store? I like thrift shopping the most, and have found some of my most cherished items either at a charity shop or vintage fair. But I do enjoy specific brands for more statement pieces, my favourites being Urban Outfitters, and Japanese brands such as Emily Temple Cute, Innocent World, and Secret Honey who often team up with Disney for some super cute styles!

What do you prefer when you dress up? It usually involves making one of my everyday dresses more fancy and elevated through accessories and jewellery. I don't like owning dresses that I'll only wear once in a blue moon, so I like to have items that are versatile and can be dressed both up and down.
What are your best life hacks when it comes to clothes? Don't be afraid to mix and match items. It can be really easy to see an item of clothing as belonging to a specific outfit and only wearing it that way, but I've often fallen back in love with things after trying it with something else and having new life breathed into it. I'll often come across these combinations by accident too, by seeing a top and a skirt hanging up next to each other in my closet and realising that they're a good match or share a particular shade and just trying them on. Also DIY can help a lot, whether that be by making something entirely unique or just helping something to fit you better.
What do you feel best in? I like either fit and flare dresses, or sometimes even full on shapeless smock styles. I enjoy layering a lot, and I take a lot of inspiration from fiction and characters that I like. I like my outfit to have some kind of story to it, even if it's known only to me.
How do you sort your wardrobe? I'm pretty organised about it all, and cull things I don't get enough wear out of regularly! All pants go in one drawer, t-shirts and sweaters in another, and everything else gets hung up. I have two closets, one for my dresses, and another for my tops, skirts, and jackets. I like being able to open the doors and see absolutely everything, it makes it easier to decide what I feel like wearing.

Which garments do you find difficult to find? Pants, which is why I don't really wear them. I'm pear shaped and so struggle to find things that fit both my waist and my hips comfortably and I'm not going to bother trying to find something that only makes me feel bad about my body.
What do you avoid in clothing? I try not to buy things on a whim, even if I like it. I like to consider what things I already own that it will go with so I don't feel a need to purchase a whole new outfit. I generally tend to favour either earthy tones, or pops of bright colour and don't stray too much with my colour palette so that I know everything will work together.
What do you wear when you're just at home? Usually leggings and an oversized dress - I like to be comfy!

How do you dress seasonally? Layering! It makes it easy as it means I can wear my favourite clothes regardless of the weather. In summer I can wear a dress alone with a pair of sandals and a statement bag, and in winter I can wear the exact same dress with a turtleneck underneath, a big woolly cardigan over, an underskirt for added length, and some thick patterned tights.
What garments do you never wear? I rarely wear pants, and I also don't dress super casually very often - I'm not a jeans and t shirt kind of girl and feel very under-dressed and uncomfortable like that even if I'm just going grocery shopping.
What have you worn that people didn't like? A lot of things! I've dabbled in many different styles over the years, from full Victorian Gothic, to pastel pink Sweet Lolita, full 1960s psychedelic vintage, to whatever you'd call my style now! People often think I look childish or too colourful - "When are you going to grow up?" as if colour has an expiration date and you hit a particular age and have to give up all of your interests and everything that makes you you. Clothes are such an outward expression of how I'm feeling, that I'd feel so miserable dressing any other way. It's fun to play dress up and even step out of your comfort zone sometimes.

I love posts like this. Like you, I miss those days when we used to do Q and A's and challenges on our blogs, it all seems to polished and professional these days - something I'm not!
